How Does Feedburner Calculate Subscribers? Friday, November 16 2007

As regular readers will know, I migrated my blog over from Community Server to Graffiti midway through Wednesday. The thing that puzzles me is why Feedburner says that for Thursday I lost more than a quarter of my subscribers. The moment my site moved over, I updated my Feedburner settings and a quick view of the feed showed all the new content was working just fine. So what gives? Did 25% of my subscribers decide to vote with their feet on my move? It doesn't seem likely and running through my Google Analytics reports they show the previous traffic trends continue with a small rise in traffic probably due to people checking out the new site.

I can't think of a reason for this drop, but then occasionally my Feedburner stats do take a one day dive, so maybe this is a blip and a coincidence? I'm looking forward to seeing what my stats say tomorrow.
