Vista x86 or x64?

Further to my earlier post, when my new machine arrives, I need to decide whether I run 64bit windows, or stick with 32bit. I have tried the x64 version a few times in the past, and it always seems to be on the way to installing the 32bit version due to endless compatibility issues. I have checked that all my hardware has 64bit drivers, and I'm in luck there, but I'd love to know if anyone else is running x64 and how they are finding it.

Hi,

I have recently acquired a new PC and also decided to try out x64 Vista.  So far, so good.  It has been 2 weeks and everything seems to work 100%.

Virtual PC 2007 is really, really fast.  I use a virtual machine to house CS 2007, IIS and SQL 2005 for my Community Server testing and theme development.  Photoshop, Dreamweaver and all my other day to day applications work great.  I must still get around to installing a few smaller apps but I gues if I haven't used them in 2 weeks I guess I don't need them that urgently.  I can always run another virtual machine for those 'ad-hoc' applications if they don't work.

Cheers

Chris

Great info Chris, thanks. It seems like we use many of the same main apps, so it's good to know their running ok. I guess the big ones are VS2005 and SQL Server.
