Windows Vista x64 & TrustedInstaller.exe Pegging my Processor! Wednesday, November 14 2007
After installing all the bits into my new computer, I found that Windows Vista x64 was unusable. After looking at what processes were running, a process called TrustedInstaller.exe was eating up 99% of the processor time and slowing the whole thing down. After doing some digging around, it seems the problem is caused by a combination of the Core 2 Quad processor (I have the Q6600 2.4GHz), Windows Vista x64 and the fact I was running 4GB RAM. I haven't managed to find a fix for it, but I have found a workaround. I have simply removed one of the 1GB RAM modules and now it's running fast. Very, very fast! It's annoying only being able to run 3GB instead of the full 4GB but at least it's a start.
Update: I've found a fix for this issue.

Damn, that´s exactly the set-up I planned to purchase. And there´s no reason to install x64 with 3GB only.
